Hello, there! Steve built a beautiful nine foot Pendoflex custom EPS/epoxy longboard for our friend Mr. Ken G. It features a swallow tail and is extremely light, strong and high performance. All of Steve’s boards are hand-shaped and built in their entirety by Steve with lots of love. Aloha and Cowa-flexit!

This weekend was amazing. We got work done and also enjoyed beautiful walks along the cliffs and fun waves. The pelicans, cormorants, dolphins and seals were fishing and putting on quite a show. On Saturday we celebrated Steve’s birthday with a morning walk and a festive early breakfast at Margaritas in Ocean Beach and later at the PB Surf Shop Christmas party.
Pastor Mike’s sermon in church on Sunday at Calvary Point Loma was inspiring as always. We are studying James 5. Today’s topic was “Patience in Suffering.” “Brothers, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.” James 5:10-11
This is inspiring scripture and so important to turn to, when we encounter valleys or challenges in life that can seem so long.

Tonight our kind friends at PB Surf shop are hosting a free Christmas and holiday party that features the beautiful music of Peter Sprague and friends and an art exhibit by the Surf Story book artists. The event is also a benefit for Surfers Healing, an organization that provides a surf camp autistic children. The food is provided by Beachwood catering and beer courtesy of Primo.

Hello, there. Steve built our close friend Chapman Murphey two beautiful new Pendoflexes for winter on the North Shore, a 6’6″ and a 7’2″, racey blades for Island barrels. Chapman left for Hawaii the next morning and flew right into a beautiful clean swell. He and our friend Lyle Carlson rode the boards during the swell and called with awesome feedback and we’re stoked on their stories of Pipe, Back Door, Sunset, Backyards and more.

A moonset, good friends and fascinating storm clouds: Sunday morning marks day #3 of enjoying observing the movement of the low pressure and front. This morning we were blessed with a beautiful moonset at sunrise, that is until the moon dipped down into the deep frontal wall of clouds. We enjoyed talking story down at the beach with our good friends Ken, Mouse and Clark, and then Steve and I took a brisk walk up high along the point. We’re fascinated with the cloud formations and it was fun to see the front move in and bring more rain showers. Here’s a selection of snap shots from this morning. Hey there! This morning the skies are overcast and we’re getting ready for the big low that’s on its way for the weekend. Rain and wind gusts up to 40 mph are predicted for the beach areas, and snow in the mountains down to about 4,000 feet. At Ocean Beach, the tractors were grooming the sand, loading up and getting the berm ready for the winter’s swells. Have a great day. Aloha!

Thanks to the US gov. web site for a refresher on some of the history of the holiday: World War I was known as “the war to end all wars.” Fighting ceased when an armistice, or temporary cessation fighting, between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. For that reason November 11, 1918 is regarded as the end of “the war to end all wars” and Armistice Day. In May 13, 1938, the 11th of November was designated as a holiday dedicated to the cause of world peace and celebrated as “Armistice Day.” The holiday was first set aside to honor veterans of World War I, but in 1954, after World War II had required the greatest mobilization of soldiers, sailors, Marines and airmen in the Nation’s history and after Americans had fought aggression in Korea, the 83rd Congress amended the Act of 1938 by replacing the word “Armistice” with the word “Veterans.” The change was approved by President Eisenhower and Congress on June 1, 1954, and then November 11th became a day to honor American veterans of all wars.

When Matt picked up his new Pendoflex quad, he brought some wonderful yellowtail that he had caught. The fish was so tasty, thanks, Matt! Last week when the nice swell was running, Steve and I saw him on the trail with his new board. He’s enjoying his new Pendoflex and we’re stoked!
