Steve with Pendoflex Winter Fish
On Thursday and Friday, the Art of Shaping can be viewed on the show floor of ASR. At 2 PM on Friday the boards will be moved upstairs to the conference room for the reception and charity auction. The reception begins at 4 PM. We are grateful to Royce, Bird and the Billabong folks for doing such a wonderful job showcasing the San Diego shapers and craftsmen. More photos will be added of the display featuring all of the boards, soon. Here’s Steve with the beautiful Pendoflex Winter Fish that he built for the Art of Shaping, San Diego Edition. Winter Fish is 7’2″, 21″ wide, with high aspect wood twin fins that have Steve’s special hollow foils. The color was done by Steve, and the pen-and-ink scene was drawn on the sanded hot coat by Cher.

My first Pendoflex!!!! My immeasurable thanks to Steve and Cher for this board…the steal of the auction. A winter fish just in time for the start of fall, and transition into colder water. A pleasure meeting you both, and an honor to receive such a usable work of art directly from the creator. I am beyond STOKED!
