Step OFF! for Chapman

Family charger Chapman Murphey is stoked. . . he’s been scoring big barrels in Mainland Mex this summer, and he asked Steve to build him this rad, racey Pendoflex Step OFF. Steve used a heavy blank and glassed it with 7 layers of cloth, and Step OFF weighs in at about 13 pounds. Chapman is 6’6″, and “Chap Step” is 6’5.5″ x 18-3/8″ with a rounded diamond tail and quad fin set up, with special stiff flex. Charge’em Chappy!

Check out the photos below.

What advantages are there to having flex in a barrel seeker?

    Hi, Quiver,

Having a gas pedal is the short take on it, the rest of the explanation would take hours. . .

At first I was nervous because the board seemed to heavy. But when I took it out he thiing took off like a hot knife cutting through butter. Your going so fast when you jump from the ski you have all this time to negotiate the barrel. The board would pivet on a dime or draw lines with complete ease. It also clung to the face in the barrel and with its weight I could lean as deap´into a turn at full speed and not worry about slippin. The whole time the stiff flex was working with me like it was riding shot gun. Ño boingy bouncy on this stick , just FLEXN when it was called for . Aloha Steve and Cher

    Aloha, Chapman!
Wow, thanks for your exciting story about your first barrel sessions on Chap Step. Steve will be stoked to read the details and also hear your phone message when he gets home. So stoked! Exciting!
