The 2014 SCSA Gromfest
Hi there! The Gromfest for local kids—16 and under—is our favorite event with our Sunset Cliffs Surfing Association family. At the Gromfest, very kid is a winner! SCSA hosted this year’s Gromfest on August 9 at the Ocean Beach pier. The waves were 2-3 feet with fun shape for the young surfers. Special thanks go to the SCSA Gromfest committee and sponsors for organizing such a wonderful day for the kids. A good time was had by all. Pendoflex for Scripps Institution of Oceanography
Hi there. It was nice to see Dr. Bruce Applegate when he stopped by to pick up the special Sustainble Surf Pendoflex for SIO. Steve made this beautiful Pendoflex double-winger Fish for our friends at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. Steve shaped the board using a special EPS blank that incorporates an Applecore stringer made from recycled wood. In conjunction with Sustainable Surf, Steve used Entrophy Super Sap resin. The sustainable surfboard for SIO will help bring awareness to recycling, reuse and repurposing of materials used to build surfboards. We are thankful that these new, improved materials are now available, allowing us to build excellent quality surfboards that are kinder for the environment. Aloha and Cowa-flexit!

#19 Rests In Peace
Hi there. Today San Diegans and the world celebrate the life of Tony Gwynn, Mr. Padre. May you rest in peace Mr. Padre, thank you for your inspirations. Today Steve inadvertently put the tee-shirt on with TSJ 19 and #19 is Tony Gwynn’s number. Around midday he realized that he was wearing his shirt with #19 on the front, that was a gift from TSJ for Cher’s work. Needless to say, we’ve had tears for this good man’s passing. Cowa-flexit!

Solstice week at the Pendos’ art studio
Hello there, Happy Solstice and first days of Summer. Steve brought a few fresh shapes from his shaping room. While getting ready to paint, we had an interesting discussion about nose rocker in a few of the boards. Two of the boards are painted with mostly blues and greens. Aloha and Cowa-flexit!
