Celebration of Life

Rest in Peace, Jimmy Blears. Our prayers are with Jimmy, and all the family and friends. Today his ashes will be placed in the waters of Waikiki, where he first saw the sea as a little boy, at 10 AM at San Souci Beach.

We first met Jimmy when he was staying with our friend Mike prior to the San Diego World Contest in 1972. Jimmy was friendly and kind (and to me at 21 years), he seemed bigger than life. We were at the beach cheering him on in the finals and were so stoked when he won the World Contest riding Mike’s home made Fish. After the contest, Mike shaped Jimmy his own Fish and friends tell stories of him ripping, riding his Fish all around the island of Oahu. When we were on Oahu we visited with him when he was life guarding at Makaha and Sunset over the years. Jimmy was always friendly, gracious and kind and a great waterman. Love and Aloha to World Champion Jimmy Blears!

Today we also remember our close friend Greg Betz RIP, whose birthday is today.

We also share Happy Birthday wishes to our friends Lisa and Richard, both Lisa and Richard celebrate 50 today. Happy Birthday!

We will be putting flowers in the ocean in memory of Jimmy this afternoon. God bless you. Malama pono.
